  The 1959 edition has a number of articulation marks on the top notes of the RH octaves. These are: a slur between the first two C sharps; a slur between the next two C sharps; a slur from the D to the A sharp; a slur from the B to the A natural, with an accent on the B. The same pattern is repeated in bar 2, and presumably applies elsewhere in the piece.

  The 1959 edition has pedal marks under the low F sharp and low D
• Bar 16
  The 1959 edition has a pedal mark under the low F sharp at the end of the bar
• Bars 19-22, 25-26
  In each of these bars the 1959 edition has a hairpin diminuendos in the RH for the duration of the first dotted quarter note. In bars 21-22 each hairpin is followed by pp.
